What is Vietnamese Circle?

Vietnamese Circle is a monthly Vietnamese language club organized by VLS since 2022, aiming to assist foreigners or Việt Kiều in learning Vietnamese in a friendly environment. This club is open to participants of all proficiency levels, whether it’s their first exposure to the Vietnamese language or they are foreigners or Việt Kiều who are already proficient in Vietnamese.

What do we do in Vietnamese Circle?

The Vietnamese Circle stands out as it exclusively focuses on teaching Vietnamese online. It distinguishes itself from other language clubs by providing a unique space dedicated to helping participants genuinely comprehend and utilize Vietnamese, all within a friendly atmosphere that also allows for immersion in Vietnamese culture.

Each session at the Vietnamese Circle explores various topics such as travel, cuisine, proverbs, idioms, metaphors, comparisons, personification, exaggeration in Vietnamese, homophones, compound words, and learning about Vietnamese weddings, playing lô tô, understanding taboo customs during Tet (Vietnamese New Year), and more.

Participants will receive pre-prepared handouts containing vocabulary and grammar structures related to the topic. Each session will be hosted by experienced VLS teachers who will briefly introduce the main lesson. Afterward, participants will be divided into small groups based on their proficiency levels, with each group having its own facilitator for additional questions and discussions.

Following the breakout sessions, participants will engage in further practice through activities such as presentations, games, role-playing, and more.

This language club is free admission at the coffee shop in District 1 – the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

The event will take place on Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm so make sure that you can arrange your time to join us!

During each Vietnamese Circle session, you will receive a handout to take home, containing comprehensive vocabulary and lesson structures, along with exercises to help you review multiple times.

Well-prepared lesson

Vietnamese Circle lessons are prepared and reviewed by the Academic department of VLS, ensuring that the knowledge is conveyed accurately and effectively to you.

Cultural exposure

Participants will address your inquiries about holiday customs, cultural taboos to avoid in Vietnamese culture, proper greetings, and behaviors during significant events such as Tet Holiday, Wedding ceremonies, Mid-Autumn Festival, etc.

Additionally, you will get to play lô tô and participate in other fun activities at Vietnamese Circle!

Interactive activities

Playing games, role-playing, debating, presenting, etc. Everything contributes to boosting your confidence in using Vietnamese in front of an audience, adding more motivation to your language-learning journey.
