Latest Updates on Vietnam Visa Policies in 2023

Vietnam visa policies

This article provides the latest updates on Vietnam visa policies for foreigners interested in traveling or obtaining a student visa.

As international travel continues to evolve, Vietnam has made significant strides in adapting its visa regulations to accommodate the needs of tourists and business travelers alike. This is good news for foreigners who are planning extended trips or short-term work in Vietnam. Let’s read this article to update the latest changes in Vietnam visa policies before you intend to visit our beautiful country!

Vietnam issues E-Visa and extends the duration to citizens of all countries and territories worldwide

While previously Vietnam applied e-visa to 80 countries, from August 15, 2023, the Vietnamese government has expanded the E-Visa application to citizens of all countries worldwide, including 257 countries and territories.

The significant change in this policy is the duration of the E-Visa. According to the Resolution, the E-Visa is valid for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months (90 days). This provides flexible conditions for foreigners to experience and explore Vietnam during the corresponding period. Moreover, foreign nationals will have the ability to enter through all of Vietnam’s border gates, facilitating convenient movement and interaction.

The E-Visa is a type of visa that can be applied online with a simple process. Thanks to the convenience and speed of the E-Visa, foreign nationals can save time and effort in obtaining a visa and preparing related documents. Now, you can easily travel to Vietnam and explore its beauty with a visa duration of up to 3 months. Vietnam extends the temporary residence certificate issuance period to 45 days

Starting from August 15, 2023, citizens of certain countries who are unilaterally visa-exempt will enjoy an extended visa-free entry period to Vietnam, now reaching up to 45 days, which is triple the previous duration of 15 days.

This policy applies to 13 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Belarus. This is a significant move in Vietnam visa policies, as these countries maintain close partnership ties with Vietnam and have actively contributed to the country’s economic and tourism development in recent times.

The visa-exempt policy for entry to Vietnam for citizens of the aforementioned countries will be in effect for a period of 3 years, from March 15, 2022, to March 14, 2025, and will be subject to review for extension as per Vietnamese law.

This is indeed a piece of heartening news for citizens of these 13 countries. You will now have more time to stay in Vietnam and explore its tourist attractions, and delve into its rich history, culture, cuisine, and language from the North to the South.
