So You Think You Can Teach
In honor of all dedicated teachers at Vietnamese Language Studies (VLS) and teachers across the globe, we are delighted to host the So You Think You Can Teach Contest to celebrate the upcoming Teachers’ Appreciation Day.
This time, the roles are reversed.
Agenda: You are invited to deliver a 30-minute (max) lesson, teaching your language to a 5-10-person group of VLS teachers, staff and students. You get to decide the lesson topic and format. Just keep it relevant and appropriate.
*Vietnamese and English are not counted.
Date: November 2-11, 2022 (weekdays only)

Golden Bell Challenge
How much do you know about VLS and Vietnam? How much of a challenger are you?
Let’s test your knowledge about and love for Vietnamese language, culture, traditions, people, etc. through a set of questions about daily life things in Vietnam.
Join your friends and fellow students at this upcoming exciting quiz game, the Golden Bell Challenge. It’s going to be a blast. Let’s get geared up for the challenges and a prize of 7,000,000 VND Scholarship from VLS.

Prize: 7,000,000 VND scholarship
Game rules:
– All contestants will be seated in one room
– Each contestant will be assigned a unique number and given writing materials (whiteboards, markers, etc.)
– Contestants will have 10 seconds to answer each question, using their whiteboards (paper). The questions will be in both English and Vietnamese.
- Those who get the question right will remain in the game
- Those who get the question wrong will drop out of the game
– The last person to answer the most number of questions correctly wins the game.

Vietnamese Speech Contest

Requirements
- All speeches must be in Vietnamese
- 4-8 minutes
- Only contestants who are not currently living in Ho Chi Minh City can participate online via Zoom or another designated platform.

Every one of us has a story or two to share. This is the opportunity to showcase your Vietnamese language skills, share with us your stories, and express your gratitude to your teacher(s).

Agenda
Create a Vlog to showcase your daily-life activities that involve learning and using Vietnamese language.
Prizes
- 1st Place: 5,000,000 VND scholarship
- 2nd Place: 3,000,000 VND scholarship
Requirements
- Video length: 3-10 minutes
- Must include at least 3 activities (e.g. taking a Vietnamese lesson, conversing with your family members in Vietnamese, singing a Vietnamese song, etc.)
- Must use Vietnamese at least 50% of the time

Scoring Guidelines
All videos will be published on VLS’ Facebook page on November 14, 2022
The scoring period will last from 12:00 PM November 14, 2022 to 9:00 PM on November 17, 2022. Points will be calculated based on the number of likes, shares, and comments, so don’t forget to share with your friends and loved ones about your vlog.
- 1 Facebook reaction = 1 point
- 1 Facebook comment = 2 points
- 1 Facebook share = 3 points
