Đây là một câu thành ngữ tiếng Việt miêu tả sự đều đặn, giống nhau tăm tắp.
Mái nhà ngày xưa của người Việt chủ yếu được lợp bằng rơm (thân cây lúa sau khi thu hoạch) hoặc bằng một loại cỏ tên là “cỏ tranh” nên mọi người thường gọi là mái tranh.
Để có được một tấm tranh lợp mái, người thợ phải dùng tay đánh cỏ tranh thành từng vắt, rồi bện nhiều vắt tranh thành tấm. Các vắt tranh phải đều nhau nếu không mái tranh sẽ dễ bị thấm nước.
Ngày nay, nhiều người thường bị nhầm lẫn câu thành ngữ này thành “đều như vắt chanh”.
Sau khi đã hiểu rõ nguồn gốc của thành ngữ này thì chắc hẳn bạn sẽ không bị nhầm lẫn nữa đúng không nào.

“Đều như vắt tranh” is a popular Vietnamese idiom to describe the regularity and uniformity.
In the past, the roof of Vietnamese houses used to be made of rơm (straw) or cỏ tranh (thatched grass). Both of these were called mái tranh (thatched grass roof).
To make a perfect thatched grass roof, the maker needed to combine grass into each patch and use their hands to turn the pile of fibers into frames.
The frames must be even. Otherwise, when raining, the roof would be absorbent.
Nowadays, a lot of people mistaken it with “đều như vắt chanh”.
