Learn Vietnamese online: ĐI BÃO (từ lóng/ a slang)
BÃO means typhoon in English.
ĐI BÃO is used in a football-related situation only; means to join the crowd to “party” on the street to celebrate a victory gained by Vietnam national football team in the international either quarter-final or semi-final or final matches. The later matches are won, the crazier “ĐI BÃO” is done.
Fact: Football is like a religion in Vietnam. Vietnam National Football team had not gained such a victory for a decade. Therefore, it was not a big surprise to see how Vietnamese people celebrated the last night victory nationwide when Vietnam defeated Qatar to win the ticket to the final round of Asia Football Cup.
